These tracings of postmarks, rate markings and other auxiliary markings were made by August Dietz to illustrate his Postal Service of the Confederate States of America and his several periodicals published from 1924-1952. At the time this was the best way to create images for collectors to use in making comparisons with actual markings.
While these tracings are not all that Dietz made to illustrate his periodicals and catalogs, they do include many town postmarks. In addition there are tracings of handstamped paid, express, steam, and railroad markings,
